ABSU Forced To Cancel Chaos In Tejas Performance

Mythological occult metal artisans ABSU regretfully announce the cancellation of their set at this weekend's Chaos In Tejas festivities, where they were confirmed to headline the show at Red 7 this Saturday with support from Terrorism, Loss, Morbosidad, Ares Kingdom and Black Witchery. . Immediately following their bludgeoning performance at the opening night of this year's sweltering installment of Maryland Deathfest this past Thursday night, ABSU drummer/vocalist Proscriptor had to rush back to Texas due to a knee infection. Following two instantaneous surgeries, Proscriptor will be in good health and back to 110% efficiency by the mid portion of June, but not in time to perform as scheduled on Saturday night. This cancellation is disheartening to the band for the moment, as they were fully planning on leveling all in earshot at the performance this weekend; however, this procedure will now ensure that the band will be fully operational for the previously mentio

Bonded By Blood Stuck in Massachusettes

Image
After finishing up a blistering tour with Kittie, Bonded By Blood find themselves stuck in Massachusettes with a dodgy trailer. As happens on the road, the trailer gave out before the metal did. The quartet from Pamona, CA are currently cooling their heels in Massachusettes. Carlos Regalado, Juan Juarez, Jessie Sanchez, and Mauro Gonzalez finished the tour in Lowell, MA only to find the trailer leaf spring snapped and ist kaput! They need to gather funds to get the trailer fixed and begin the long cross country trek back to California. Bonded were on the road to introduce fans to the upcoming third album entitled The Aftermath due to be released July 3 via Earache Records . The album is destined to be in the Top 3 albums of 2012. Yes, it's just that damn good. Bonded By Blood played 5 tracks from The Aftermath on the current tour to a rabid and much appreciative audience. The lucky fans that saw Bonded on the tour were treated to I Can't Hear You, Restless Minds, Crawl

STAR TREK TNG Cast at Phoenix Comicon

Image
Friday at Phoenix Comicon was just gobsmacking amazing. Three members of Star Trek: The Next Generation cast had panels. The panels were well attended with legions of Trek fans showing some love. LeVar Burton was first up. LeVar let us know that a new Reading Rainbow is in the works. Due to be released June 19, Reading Rainbow will be available as an ap for the IOS platform and tablet computers and will be available in the ap store. By the end of the year, it will be available for select Android models. Burton grew up with reading and indeed it was expected of him by his English teacher mother.   "In Irma Jean's house you either read a book or got hit in the head with one." Next up was the amazing Marina Sirtis , a Tottenham Hotspur fan. She related an awesome story (well, I thought it awesome as I'm a die hard Chelsea supporter) of how she got an Arsenal fan chucked out of a panel she and Will Wheaton were conducting. If you've never seen Marina
http://68Zombie.com the most unique zombie series ever. Come see Jay and Mark at Phoenix Comicon
LeVar Burton: "Home training, it works." New Reading Rainbow out June 19 via an ap for tablet computers. @PhoenixComicon

Kiss The Gunner's Daughter - Still Here

Image
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! Why are these guys not signed?  Kiss The Gunner's Daughter have nailed it with the single  Still Here from their upcoming album which is to be released Summer 2012.  I'm gobsmackingly in love with this track. It bobs and weaves between the emo metal of Staind, the killer guitar riffage of Savage Messiah, the intensity of Godsmack, and bitchen Alice in Chains harmonies. It's no surprise these guys are from Seattle, long the bastian of unique and inspired music. Kiss the Gunner's Daughter sports Kelly Murphy on drums, Nick Sundesten on bass, Josh Perry nailing some totally bitchin' guitar, and Sean Ingalls providing the chills on vocals. Still Here reaches into your synapses and rips your heart out. It's dark and broody yet killer head banging goodness. Still Here is an amazing composition. There are so many shades to this song. The harmonies are amazing, the drumming is hard driving, the guitar is metal at it's finest. The band has

Musing on Music: Bethany Heights "Proper Medication"

Image
Proper Medication is the newest single from Phoenix's own Bethany Heights . Proper Medication is from their debut EP entitled Paydirt. It was recorded with Craig Long. The trio consists of Andrew David on vocals and guitar, John Carter on bass, and Atom Albany on drums. The single channels Brittany Fox, Warrant , and Poison - the hair metal kings of the 90s.  Proper Medication is guitar and drum heavy. They are the driving force in the song. I could barely hear  John Carter on bass on this track. I LOVE bass but its absense in this case kinda works. Proper Medication has grooves within grooves. The hook is catchy as hell and you'll find yourself singing the song long after it's done spinning. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bethany-Heights

Patrick Stewart unable to attend Phoenix Comicon

Today Phoenix Comicon was saddened to report that Patrick Stewart will not be able to attend the convention due to filming commitments. We've had fun announcing new guests this past week. Today, however, we are sad to announce a guest cancellation: Patrick Stewart is unable to attend Phoenix Comicon due to filming commitments. We will be refunding all Patrick Stewart solo photo op purchases along with all TNG Cast photo op purchases. Refunds should be complete within the next 72 hours. The TNG Cast photo op will continue with ... Brent, Marina, LeVar, and Michael and will be repriced and offered for purchase online. We have been fortunate over the years to not have any major guest cancellations, especially this close to our show. It is a risk we take as we book headlining actors, and working actors at that. This really is our first major guest cancellation we have had in over four years. Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support and for your understanding.

Help Goatwhore Get Sum New Wheelz!!!!!

Hey all you metal heads! Goatwhore are going to embark on yet another kick ass tour for your listening and viewing pleasure. But they need a wee bit of help. From the Goatwhore camp: We are embarking on a 7 week long national tour later this summer that will take us all over the United States and parts of Canada. Whilesome people may think that being active in the music business and going on tour may be financially prosperous, that is not always the case. Our goal is to be able to rent a new and different touringvehicle for this upcoming tour. Our usual mode of transportation is a 15-passenger van which gets roughly 9 mpg pulling our loaded trailer. This new vehicle will be much more comfortable and take some of the stress of the road off of us. More importantly, it gets upwards of 20 mpg pulling a loaded trailer. This will account for considerable fuel savings as well as a reduction in emissions due to the vehicles clean burning ultra low sulphur diesel engine. We are inviting

Onslaught @ St. Vitas Bar (Brooklyn, NY) 2012 April 07

Image
Americans cling to an outmoded stereotype of a "metal" fan. Invariably its a young 18-24 year old drugged up non-ethnic white male with the IQ of a goldfish. The people who perpetuate this myth have obviously NEVER been to a metal show. I hit up St. Vitas Bar in Brooklyn to catch the last stop of Onslaught 's first ever USA tour. The audience was as varied as the type of donuts at the local Krispy Kreme. Young and old and older; male and female; all colours, shapes, and sizes. Metal music appeals to everyone. The lyrics are honest and raw. It's a place to find refuge from a really crappy world. A place to find solidarity when everyone turns against you. At least that was the vibe in Brooklyn. It's a long night of metal kicked off by local band Hypoxia . I got to meet lead singer, John, who is an affable bloke. Their music is hard and heavy, the highlight being a song called "The Walking Dead". It was excellent for all the Zombie lovers in the audience.

The Browning and The Devastated on the Road Again!

Image
Texas born and bred, THE BROWNING are due to kick off a US tour tonight - Tuesday, May 1st - with industrial metal titans FEAR FACTORY. Can I get a hellz yeah! The Browning are always kick azz live and this tour promises to be as exciting and sweat worthy of tours past! There is no way to go to a Browning show and not dance, headbang, flail about - the music is infectious! The tour starts in San Antonio, Texas, and also includes SHADOWS FALL, THE DEVASTATED (an amazing touring partner for The Browning if you ask me) and LEGACY OF DISORDER. THE BROWNING drummer NOAH "SHARK" ROBERTSON comments: "We are always stoked to hit the road again, but we are especially excited to be touring with such an amazing line-up of bands this time around!  We look up to bands like Fear Factory, who are one of the great pioneers of the industrial metal genre, and Shadows Fall, who took part in the New Wave of American Heavy Metal movement.  These bands are legendary and it's an honor

SLAYER updates Jeff Hanneman's status

A wee bit over a  year ago I saw the Big 4 in Indio, CA. To my surprise, gutarist Jeff Hanneman appeared onstage with band mates in Slayer for an encore. He had been bitten by a spider and it wrecked havok on his system. Didn't really know how bad it was, just that it was bad enough to have him not in the band and replaced by two guitar players for the 2011 tour schedule. Today, the Slayer camp released an update on Jeff's status: Slayer fans everywhere - it's time to let you know what is going on with our brother Jeff Hanneman. As you know, Jeff was bitten by a spider more than a year ago, but what you may not have known was that for a couple of days after he went to the ER, things were touch-and-go. There was talk that he might have to have his arm amputated, and we didn't know if he was going to pull through at all. He was in a medically-induced coma for a few days and had several operations to remove the dead and dying tissue from his arm. So, understand, he was
