Kinda Emo Interlude? Check!

There is a LOT going on in the song "Tides of War". The track is from Chariots of The Gods 2013 album Tides of War. The album emerged in January of this year. The great thing about this is that it is a self release. I give a big thumbs up to Chariots of the Gods for putting together a really good sounding album. I'm not the only one who thinks so. The band have been getting some choice reviews.

The first thing you notice about Tides of War is the guitar playing. Dimitri Gervais and Mathieu St. Amour are tight. They are quite the guitar duo. "Blind Assassin" and "Ambrosian Wings" highlight their riffage. These are songs that Iron Maiden should be writing if they weren't so hung up with being, well, Iron Maiden. Tides of War is a fresh take on adding melody and harmony to heavy metal. The second thing you notice with Chariots of the Gods is the drumming by Rich O'Neil. Rich O'Neil has a furious pace and it propels the songs forward. For me, just the guitars and drums are worth dropping a fiver ($5) for the album. That's not to say that Renaud Jobin isn't a good vocalist. He's ok. His voice fits the style of music. Chariots of the Gods excel in technicality as well. "Revillusion" is another song that has a lot to offer composition wise. It has thrash elements that combine with some interesting time signatures. What I really enjoy about Chariots of the Gods' album Tides of War is that you can listen to it over and over again and still enjoy it.

Get the album thru Bandcamp. This way, the dosh goes strait to the band. This is always a good thing. The album is worth more than the fiver ($5) they are charging!
